average runner

was not interested in running but walking opposite of everyday!

my competitor!!! she loved it!!! and inspired me!
I have been busy getting my house back together from the holidays. Yesterday it looked like a land pile had hit in my livingroom floor from our trip. Anyways, I wanted to share a little of what we did!!! Gary, Savannah, and Jonathan did their first race ever on Thanksgiving day along with their daddy running the 5k. Matt had what he called a slow day but still managed to take 1st place for his age group and 7th overall with over 1000 runners!!!! We were also a popular group to take pictures of because there were 6 of us  there and the newscasters loved it that we made it a family affair!!! so much fun!!! I then ran a 5k on Saturday with a much smaller crowd and took 22nd overall and 1st for my age group with a 30:07 average 9:41 pace. It could have been faster if we didn't run on the beach.... what a mess!!!! Not to mention that was my only pair of shoes I took with me and the tide came in so part of it was on the rocks because I didn't run to run in the waves. I wish had pics. because it really was that crazy!!!! My fam. stayed back that morning but I got a nice shirt with a pickle on it!

Nope...
Out onto the sidewalk came a mouse with mr. calico only a sec. behind... Me? Oh I was literally next to the mouse. Glad I was running along and no not afraid of mice but... informed the neighbor...

Encounters during running!!!

I decided to cancel the 35 min. and do a 4mi. As soon as the fam. finished lunch, I went for a 4mi. run. No warm up... I suggest to let your food settle but this is what you get on a Sunday... mile 1 9:38, mile 2 10:25, mile 3 10:05, mile 4 9:40... as look at these times, you will see I was not very consistent in mile 2 & 3... Here's what happened...

During mi. 2 a man and his son were playing catch in the front yard... the baseball was thrown out the street and into traffic on the street. I was running straight thought I could throw the ball back to the two and that's what I did. when I stopped to throw the ball, I threw it into the trees which didn't make it go far but the dad was there to catch it and I was on my way again. Not but 30 sec. later I ran past 2 men carrying a 24pk of beer. One of the guys jogged with the beer with me a little less than half a block. He had to been drunk which made me say a quick prayer for the guy. I told it was four miles today and so he stopped running and said,  "right on."

When I finished mi. 2, I stopped to stretch and also stopped the watch. (this was also my turn around loop) I probably stretched (hamstrings) for about 30 sec. and then started my watch again.
On my way back,

I passed the drunk men which had spilled their beer cans and were gathering them... Quite hilarious (little prayer for these guys). This is why I love to run... a moment for me to pray for complete strangers I have encountered. I also prayed for two boys on their bikes which were headed the beach with their surf boards. I don't know where they stand, but I can say a quick prayer on their salvation. Ultimately, children are our future!!! Thank you ladies again for motivating me to run.

today's update!!

walked outside this morning and it was too pretty to workout in the house so I made a workout outside 6 cones with  run double intervals of each one space 14 feet apart(size 7 shoe). 1min side lunges with 5 lb weights. repeat double interval 6 cones, 1 min. push-ups, repeat double interval of 6 cones, 1 min. walking lunges with 5lb weights, repeat double interval 6 cones,  1min. of planks, repeat double interval 6 cones! Cool down with 3 min. jog!!! I then used the ball for 3 min. of core training! have fun! If you want variations just ask and I will give ya some alterations.

Today's Agenda!!!

Good morning ladies!!! On the brain today, I have two workouts to achieve...

First and foremost, I must get started with some toning. By the way, my first workout is with Lindsay Brin aka (Moms into fitness) Check out her website. So inspiring!!!

Second, I must run 35min. today, not sure how many miles (hopefully 4 mi) I can get in 35 min. but that is the goal. If you are meeting up with our running today, I think it will be around 3pm. Your goal is to run 30min. consecutively running and five min. walking and if you are up for running for the full 35, go for it!!!

Remember to pace, which ultimately means not to start off fast and die in the end or before. Thank you again for motivating me and together we inspire one another.  Confession... if I am not running with others, I am talking with God! He gives me the strength to run and be apart of life's journey!

thoughts of running and what happens when running

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was busy with mom projects and preparation for Savannah's party! I am human and my family comes before my workouts!!! It was good for my shoulder which I hurt due to soreness in my back. Today running was on the brain with the beautiful weather outside but time slipped away and darkness fell in and I resorted to 30min. Lindsay Brin

I also wanted to let you ladies know I don't always have the most perfect workouts and those that know me very well know how clumsy I am. On Tues. when I went for my run, I was in the middle of my thoughts and prayers with God when I was interrupted by bug flying into my mouth and I choked to swallow.  My brain automatically thought of spiders and what if it was a spider with venom and it will get into my stomach and the venom releasing into my body. I had to stop and pray about my thoughts wondering.... Then while I was on the ball the other day, I fell three times doing sit-ups where the ball comes out from under you. My oldest one saw me do it and found me rather funny.

Remember moments like these when your workouts are intense and laugh your way through it!!!

Nov. 17 work out

As yucky as it is outside, doesn't mean you can't get your workout for the day!!!
I will be doing a Lindsay Brin video (thirty min.) and some ball time. I love the ball because  like a video, you can do it in your home during children's nap time.
The ball workout will be set up in four sets of each but done in a circuit.
I will work core, arms, hamstrings, and pelvis. I will start out with 30 sit-ups and then 20 oblique sit-ups for each side, on the ball, 40 pelvic tilts, then I will do 30 push ups while laying on the ball and lastly lying on my back pulling the ball with my legs back and forth. If you have any questions, please let me know. Again this circuit will be repeated four times.

Nov. 16 update

I did Lindsay Brin during Savannah's free time from school and during Juliet's nap! This was a 30 min. workout and the children mostly tried to workout with me... When my husband came home from school, I was able to get my 2mi. workout in... 30 sec. warm up 9:46 mi. 1 and a 9:07 mi. 2. I think I am not giving myself a long enough warmup to be consistent with my time but I have to rush it when I am on a time limit myself. Stay Motivated!

Nov. 16 Work out back on!

I do not like taking breaks from workouts but do in order for my body heal!!
Today will be a quick 2mi. due to my husband having to coach track and will do a lindsay brin workout for toning!!!
In order to get definition, you have to replace the fat you are losing through cardio and replace it with toning! It's taken me a very long time to understand this method but it works! Thanks again my ladies for motivating me!!!!

Nov. 14 workout schedule

Before I started to feel the onset of what my family has (some stomach bug), I went for a run earlier today and ran 3 miles at 9:15 pace compared to last Sundays 10min. mi. I have to keep reminding myself that I just had my fourth child and there's no way for me to run an 8 something 8 weeks post baby. On the bright side, I am ahead of where I was when I had Jonathan.... So yeah! I was making up for the run I missed yesterday. Inches are going away and I have 13lbs of baby weight to lose!!! Thank you ladies for motivating me everyday!!!! I will be posting random workouts that I enjoy on my lazy workout days soon.

Sunday Nov. 13 workout

Hello again ladies... Glad not to see your faces when three of six of my family is feeling sick. Actually it's all the boys.
I think it's the flu! Booo!
Anyways, I ended up doing a Lindsay Brin post natal boot camp workout due to the fam. being under the weather. This was thirty minutes of workout using weight and cardio! It's great even if you haven't just had a baby. I usually do the advance to reach max intensity of workout. If you are interested in her videos, she sells them at Target. I got a nice deal and bought a trio for $15

The beginning!!!

Hello Ladies!!! As promised, I will be posting my workouts on this blog so you are in the know and you can't make it to cross fit or running days. Today I did a 2 mi. workout moderate pace workout. This consisted of a 40 sec. warm up and a 3:30 cool down. I jogged for the warmup. Ran 1mi enough to feel warm and did it in 9:37pace. The 2nd mi. was more brisk due to me not liking how slow I ran and did a 9:07 pace and felt like I was going to vomit on the 2nd mi. Lastly, I cooled down with a jog for a little over 2 min. and then walked a 1:30 which had my heart rate slowly come down. Please do a cardio workout of your choice for at least 20min. today and some type of core workout. Remember to warm up and cool down! Oh, and I also stretched my left hamstring. It was making my knee hurt. For myself, I will do 3 sets of planks lasting four min. a piece and rotating  from middle to side to other side. If you have any questions on this workout please email me. One more thing, which will help with weightloss and motivation... I am keeping a journal of what I am eating  and if you want best results do this daily. Also, I measure myself weekly and weigh in to see results. It's important to do this so you don't get discouraged. Ultimately, you want to know your inches and not so much your weight.
