Dec. 27 workout

Do 3 mi. Running or thirty min.
10 min. Of core!
6 min. Of core!
Cool down

Dec. 23 Dog ATTACK!

Two days before Christmas...

Something told me not to run alone... I called a friend to see if she could run... Not at the moment I was going to run... Maybe another friend... No answer.... It's just 4 mi. Why am I acting like this? I love running but something says no...

I had on a fuchsia shirt with black shorts... I started off and ran past a black chow and a mini side kick that were roaming around in a yard. Well... if they chase me... I am already running... I got to my first mi. 8:48 Good! Right on track!

As I was approaching my second mi... I ran past a small black dog on a leash... So cute! Then... What do my wandering eyes should appear?... Not a miniature sleigh and 8 tiny reindeer... But a German Sheppard barking ferociously at me and there is no chain to stop the dog. I thought maybe he will stop. As I turn around... he was on my heels...

An unfamiliar voice came out of my mouth... Is that mine? This high shrill scream with the words: "SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

mY arms were flaring around like I was doing an African Dance... My legs were not like running legs but dancing legs... How can this be? Why was I not moving correctly to get away from this dog????

The ARMY has taught me to be aware of my surroundings and so... I spotted a house where there were four cars parked in the yard... 2 in the driveway.. There must be someone home... Did I look both ways before I did my African Dance across the street!? No!

As I was dancing... the thoughts were running through my mind... "Was this the Day I was going to DIE?" Nah... this was the day I was going to the HOsPital for a dog bite! I imagined him biting a chunk out of my arm... As I got to the yard, I thought how embarrassing it would be of me to knock on someone's door I do not know to say, "Hey, I have a dog attached to my arm, could you kindly get him off me?" So I get to the closest vehicle and cover my head with my hands and crouch down. The dog caught up to me and groaned before he walked away! "What!?" At this point, I was mad!!! I was his toy! So then I acted like the big-shot and jumped at him.  I heard his owner. I called the dog to me... What?! Was I ready for more??? I was no longer afraid but mad!!!

The owner comes out after all the commotion and began to press me for answers.. "Did he cross the street with cars coming?" "Did he chase you?" All about her dog...
Forget the fact tHAT he just chased me down the street and made me his toy!!!!

Then she says, "By the way I am Corrie and this is my Bruno. He's never done this before. I had the door wide open and he ran out right passed me when I wasn't looking."

I then say, "It's alright I have a dog and four children and they let my dog out all the time." (He's never chased someone down the street and have them create some kind of dance to get away!) I was taking up for her! I couldn't believe my own ears...

ME: I am sorry, I just wasn't expecting that

CORRIE: He's never done that before

ME: I put on my defense mechanism before I realized if he was nice or not

CORRIE: What's your defense mechanism?

ME: Running and screaming

CORRIE: oh, I am mad he ran out like that

ME: oh it's no big deal, he's fine (have I lost my mind? my heart was still pumping and my
stomach wasn't feeling well) Have a great day!

CORRIE: You too!

I am lost for words! That mi. was 11:18 with all the commotion
the 3rd mi. was 9:48 and the 4th mi. was 8:50.
I have encountered many runs with dogs... but not one like this! Stay motivated ladies! Running is an adventure!

Dec. 20 workout! and frustration

I want you to know that I am feeling a little crazy this morning running around and yet I have not been able to actually run! When I was walking the dogs yesterday, I felt that horrible pain of shin splints and here I was hoping to be able to run today. I am so aggravated by this and it's not just to stay in shape, but to regain sanity in myself. I want to feel that cold air hit my face, watch my breath puff, feel my hair swing from side to side, my lungs expand as I am running... and nope sitting here in my warm house not feeling any of that... I have thought about breathing really hard in with the deep freezer door open to get some of the same effect but I wouldn't be able to pound my feet so that won't work. Readers... Run for me today... It's suppose to be beautiful today in Virginia! At least do 30min. of running for me! Weights would be good to finish with.. so get out out those light weights... and do some squats and lunges. and if you are not feeling it in those buns... it could be 1 of 2 things... 1 you are not doing them correctly or 2. you are not using the weights for the extra effect!
after your run do 10min. of squats and lunges... and yes I will do this workout!
1 min.holding weights press when you go down in squat position
1 min. side to side lunges with weights (you will feel it in your buns)
1min.  box jumps
1 min walking lunges
1min. mountain climbers(sorry had to add some core)
repeat 1 x!
I have 9lbs to go before returning to pre-pregnancy weight... and 5 days till Christmas! Stay motivated ladies!!! and thanks for reading!!!

Dec 19 workout and blogging

Dear Friends,
YOu have failed me in my proofreading... That's right! I am pointing my finger at you because it's so much easier to point then to my blame myself for my mistakes. As for maturity... I obviously lack it... and that blame goes on my four children, husband, and one dog. As I was eating sugar cookies at my best friend's house, I realized that the bundle of Christmas card pics. I had printed misspelled my daughters name. I of course am not going to redo them because that takes time and money... and then she pointed out that last year I printed off cards that said, "The energtic Tucker Family" Seriously?! I need a person next to me at all times to check for my mistakes!! Coming from Kentucky doesn't help me in the slightest bit... I make those corrections in my head and don't see them until after they are printed and others see them... And the computer doesn't work either for all my grammatical errors.. Then as I am reading some of my workouts from the past... What do my wondering eyes see??? More grammatical mistakes!!!! I am good with criticism... Give it to me! If I have a booger hanging from my nose... Tell me! I wouldn't let you get away with the green stuff in your teeth!! As a matter of fact... Last night at the Christmas program... There was a woman I barely knew which had lipstick on her teeth. Yes... I did it... I kindly walked up to her and told her... why?! Because I would want to know if that was me...
Today's workout will be cardio for me at least 30 min. and 6 min. of core... That's all I have to say for now! Thanks for reading! I love how some of you readers get on here in the middle of the night! This motivates me so much! Stay motivated Ladies!!!

Dec. 17 workout and plans

I realized this morning how motivated I am about working out after a friend pointed it out... Yes... I was up early this morning to sign up for my upcoming Zumba class. I am great for variety and I do love running but I love working out... Period... Doesn't really matter what I am doing. I think it's because I suffer from ADD as an adult.. I don't know... I can go with that b/c it's already overly diagnosed and I need some of kind of reason for having as much energy as I do!

My daughter woke up this morning at 6:37 (alarm set for 6:45) so I could make time to feed her! Jonathan somehow found his way down the stairs exactly five seconds after my phone alarm vibrated... Weird. He was quiet.. also weird ...and I found him in the hallway floor eating a baked sugar cookie that we had made last night. He was happy and content... so I let him be... 6:50 Coffee brewing in the kitchen! I go for my morning weight... Yes, I weigh myself every morning I wake up! The scale was good after my 3 sugar cookies I had eaten...That recipe called for 1 1/2 c. of sugar!!! Anyways... I rinse off, get dressed, fix me one egg... I take a bite... Gross... it tasted like dishwashing liquid.. No one to blame but myself! I took a few more bites not wantingly but I didn't want to stand in a long line hungry... Coffee was fixed, water bottle was filled kissed my hubby goodbye and out the door at 7:27... As I drove away and got down the street... I realized my gas light was on and I just happened to be next to the gas station... Was I going to make it to get my lottery number??? I put $10 in to save time and was blessed by the mounds of green lights to get across town... As I pulled in... I saw the sign... Fitness Registrations Dec. 12 and swim regisrtations Dec. 17. Are you kidding me?!!!! Well, I park and go inside. I take a number and ask the guy if I could sign up for both and asked about the sign... He said there was a misprint in the goodtimes magazine. Thanks a lot! My friend met up with me minutes later and that was when I realized all the events to account for and I was 20min. early to get my lottery number and still had time to spare!!! so... for the record... I am on time for one thing... working out! I wish it was Prayer Group, Church, GAry's school, but no just working out! Lord, I have failed. New Year resolution... Be on time for all things...
Workout... I am still weighting out my shin splint so... no running on this gorgeous day ... Ladies... get outside. .. it's in the 40's perfect for 40 min. of running... and do core... ball workout
1 min. push-up
1 min. sit ups
1 min. of side to side sit up or obliques
1 min hip thrusters
1 min of hamstring and buns (lie on back pull the ball toward you with your feet)
Repeat 3x which is a total of 4 sets!

Dec. 13 update

As much as I wanted to hold off from running... I couldn't help running on the beach approx. 2.5 mi. I did decide a break would be good after that run! Later, I told my husband I wanted to do core since I missed out on my core workout yesterday... So I did MIF 3min. Core and he was even amazed at how bad it burned... then I said we should do some planks... He said how about four or five min. Of consistent planks and switching from middle to each side... Sure! 6 min. Later... I fell to the ground in child's pose... I did not have the watch but followed what he told me to do... Definitely did my core!

Dec 13 workout

I changed my workout due to my time limit... I couldn't fit the run in my time limit I had so.... I had ran the first 2 blocks when I realized what I wanted to do. SPRINTS....I hate sprints but sometimes I am so giddy. I did the first 1mi. sprint in 8:20 due to me not knowing exactly what I wanted to do. I then did a .5 mi cool down jog and went at it again... 8:04 and then another .5 mi. jog. Usually you do another 1mi. sprint but there was no time allotted... Matt had to get to practice. I have shin splints waiting on my shoes so I have to ice and take a break from running in bad shoes. The new ones came in the mail yesterday but the damage has  been done. You baby these things so they don't turn into something worse. I will post workout later. Have an appointment this morning!!!

and it happened... the race that is...

There's something about a little girl which motivates me more to run! I ran today with an 8yr old and what a fun time it was!!! Other runners were so funny with their festive costumes. It was in the low 40s but it was great! I ran with my neighbors as well and truly have missed coaching these girls...(having the baby and all)
36min. was our time!!! She was a trooper!!! I was glad to be pushing her along the way!

It's not about how fast you run...It's about finishing!!! Stay motivated ladies!!!

Dec. 9th workout

Update...I did get two miles in yesterday... I ran with the dog on the beach... I am not particularly a beach runner because the sand where I live is not compacted like the sand is on Tybee Island, GA or chicks beach, Virginia beach... The great part about running on the beach is you will train to run faster once you run on the pavement. I did this when I was in the Army and didn't particularly like running on the resistant track but found it was better for making me run faster. Sorry to get carried away, that's the runner in me...
Today's workout needs to be with weights. I know I know! You may not want to bulk up... Well use light weights. Your bone density will like you and osteoporosis could happen if you don't. It only took my husband 6 years to drill this into my head. Last Friday we did solely legs and I paid for it for 2days... today we will do a well incorporated workout because I have a race tomorrow with a little runner and I do not want to be sore.
warm-up with a light jog for a minute or some jumping jacks.
2min. inclined push ups or regular your choice
2min. leg lifts or knee ups
2min. crunches (you may be a little sore from yesterday)
2min. thrusters
1min jumping jacks
Repeat 1x and cool down with jumping jacks or light jog around the block!

Dec. 8 workout

FYI... I did get to run 4mi. Yesterday! 8:48, 9:28, 9:50 (we will talk about this one)!, and 9:00. The third mi. I noticed I have run much slower the two times I have done this particular route and was wondering why... Theory... I run into the wind and the other turns and moves I don't. Anyways, today I am going to try to get a few miles but very unsure if that willa happen. Lindsay Brin will be my back up and if you did do the cross fit yesterday, your body maybe a little sore... So do simply cardio for 20 min. And if you need to break it up, then do so... If you need ideas, just ask! Oh, I will also do a 10 min. Core workout!
1 min. Planques
1 min. On each side plaques back
1 min. Bicycles
1 min. Sit-ups on ball
Repeat 1 x

Embarrassment finally happened!

It happened finally happened... Workout began.. As I was publishing my post of morning workout and drinking my morning booster of Joe... Jonathan opened the front door and out went the dog... I had Gary go after him while I rounded up three children and Gary's book bag in the van in under 2 min... NEW RECORD... We went down the road in search of our 2 fam. Members when to my right I see Gary's feet in the air as he was holding onto an old man's belt and at the end of that belt was Tucker pulling Gary into someone's house... I see two construction Guys watching and completely humored by the whole event.. I called for tucker and on we went to the school. We did our morning prayer and when I pulled up to the school... Gary opened the door before I could grab tucker... Children are screaming and scrambling to get away from the dog.. And older boys laughing at the thought of Tucker making his way into the school building...out the door I ran in my house shoes... And lack of support you know what kind of support ladies and running... Not a pretty site!!! The shoes fly off and I grab the dog and shoes and back into the van we went... Life would not be this entertaining without children!!!

Dec 6 workout

Yesterday I had to do Lindsay Brin because I have a shin splint due to running in bad shoes. I have a pair in the mail! I have to wrap it tight today to run or the insanity level will hit hard!!!! Today will be an easy 3-4 mi. I have a race on sat. With girls on the run and I am excited about motivating a girl to run! Also, I got on the scale this morning and liked the number I saw... Hard work pays off! I still have to remind myself about Juliet and not depleting her milk so my goal is to have lost all preggo weight by six mo. Which I think is ideal!!! Stay motivated ladies!!!! Keep reading, you inspire me!

average runner

was not interested in running but walking opposite of everyday!

my competitor!!! she loved it!!! and inspired me!
I have been busy getting my house back together from the holidays. Yesterday it looked like a land pile had hit in my livingroom floor from our trip. Anyways, I wanted to share a little of what we did!!! Gary, Savannah, and Jonathan did their first race ever on Thanksgiving day along with their daddy running the 5k. Matt had what he called a slow day but still managed to take 1st place for his age group and 7th overall with over 1000 runners!!!! We were also a popular group to take pictures of because there were 6 of us  there and the newscasters loved it that we made it a family affair!!! so much fun!!! I then ran a 5k on Saturday with a much smaller crowd and took 22nd overall and 1st for my age group with a 30:07 average 9:41 pace. It could have been faster if we didn't run on the beach.... what a mess!!!! Not to mention that was my only pair of shoes I took with me and the tide came in so part of it was on the rocks because I didn't run to run in the waves. I wish had pics. because it really was that crazy!!!! My fam. stayed back that morning but I got a nice shirt with a pickle on it!

Encounters during running!!!

I decided to cancel the 35 min. and do a 4mi. As soon as the fam. finished lunch, I went for a 4mi. run. No warm up... I suggest to let your food settle but this is what you get on a Sunday... mile 1 9:38, mile 2 10:25, mile 3 10:05, mile 4 9:40... as look at these times, you will see I was not very consistent in mile 2 & 3... Here's what happened...

During mi. 2 a man and his son were playing catch in the front yard... the baseball was thrown out the street and into traffic on the street. I was running straight thought I could throw the ball back to the two and that's what I did. when I stopped to throw the ball, I threw it into the trees which didn't make it go far but the dad was there to catch it and I was on my way again. Not but 30 sec. later I ran past 2 men carrying a 24pk of beer. One of the guys jogged with the beer with me a little less than half a block. He had to been drunk which made me say a quick prayer for the guy. I told it was four miles today and so he stopped running and said,  "right on."

When I finished mi. 2, I stopped to stretch and also stopped the watch. (this was also my turn around loop) I probably stretched (hamstrings) for about 30 sec. and then started my watch again.
On my way back,

I passed the drunk men which had spilled their beer cans and were gathering them... Quite hilarious (little prayer for these guys). This is why I love to run... a moment for me to pray for complete strangers I have encountered. I also prayed for two boys on their bikes which were headed the beach with their surf boards. I don't know where they stand, but I can say a quick prayer on their salvation. Ultimately, children are our future!!! Thank you ladies again for motivating me to run.

today's update!!

walked outside this morning and it was too pretty to workout in the house so I made a workout outside 6 cones with  run double intervals of each one space 14 feet apart(size 7 shoe). 1min side lunges with 5 lb weights. repeat double interval 6 cones, 1 min. push-ups, repeat double interval of 6 cones, 1 min. walking lunges with 5lb weights, repeat double interval 6 cones,  1min. of planks, repeat double interval 6 cones! Cool down with 3 min. jog!!! I then used the ball for 3 min. of core training! have fun! If you want variations just ask and I will give ya some alterations.

Today's Agenda!!!

Good morning ladies!!! On the brain today, I have two workouts to achieve...

First and foremost, I must get started with some toning. By the way, my first workout is with Lindsay Brin aka (Moms into fitness) Check out her website. So inspiring!!!

Second, I must run 35min. today, not sure how many miles (hopefully 4 mi) I can get in 35 min. but that is the goal. If you are meeting up with our running today, I think it will be around 3pm. Your goal is to run 30min. consecutively running and five min. walking and if you are up for running for the full 35, go for it!!!

Remember to pace, which ultimately means not to start off fast and die in the end or before. Thank you again for motivating me and together we inspire one another.  Confession... if I am not running with others, I am talking with God! He gives me the strength to run and be apart of life's journey!

thoughts of running and what happens when running

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was busy with mom projects and preparation for Savannah's party! I am human and my family comes before my workouts!!! It was good for my shoulder which I hurt due to soreness in my back. Today running was on the brain with the beautiful weather outside but time slipped away and darkness fell in and I resorted to 30min. Lindsay Brin

I also wanted to let you ladies know I don't always have the most perfect workouts and those that know me very well know how clumsy I am. On Tues. when I went for my run, I was in the middle of my thoughts and prayers with God when I was interrupted by bug flying into my mouth and I choked to swallow.  My brain automatically thought of spiders and what if it was a spider with venom and it will get into my stomach and the venom releasing into my body. I had to stop and pray about my thoughts wondering.... Then while I was on the ball the other day, I fell three times doing sit-ups where the ball comes out from under you. My oldest one saw me do it and found me rather funny.

Remember moments like these when your workouts are intense and laugh your way through it!!!

Nov. 17 work out

As yucky as it is outside, doesn't mean you can't get your workout for the day!!!
I will be doing a Lindsay Brin video (thirty min.) and some ball time. I love the ball because  like a video, you can do it in your home during children's nap time.
The ball workout will be set up in four sets of each but done in a circuit.
I will work core, arms, hamstrings, and pelvis. I will start out with 30 sit-ups and then 20 oblique sit-ups for each side, on the ball, 40 pelvic tilts, then I will do 30 push ups while laying on the ball and lastly lying on my back pulling the ball with my legs back and forth. If you have any questions, please let me know. Again this circuit will be repeated four times.

Nov. 16 update

I did Lindsay Brin during Savannah's free time from school and during Juliet's nap! This was a 30 min. workout and the children mostly tried to workout with me... When my husband came home from school, I was able to get my 2mi. workout in... 30 sec. warm up 9:46 mi. 1 and a 9:07 mi. 2. I think I am not giving myself a long enough warmup to be consistent with my time but I have to rush it when I am on a time limit myself. Stay Motivated!

Nov. 16 Work out back on!

I do not like taking breaks from workouts but do in order for my body heal!!
Today will be a quick 2mi. due to my husband having to coach track and will do a lindsay brin workout for toning!!!
In order to get definition, you have to replace the fat you are losing through cardio and replace it with toning! It's taken me a very long time to understand this method but it works! Thanks again my ladies for motivating me!!!!

Nov. 14 workout schedule

Before I started to feel the onset of what my family has (some stomach bug), I went for a run earlier today and ran 3 miles at 9:15 pace compared to last Sundays 10min. mi. I have to keep reminding myself that I just had my fourth child and there's no way for me to run an 8 something 8 weeks post baby. On the bright side, I am ahead of where I was when I had Jonathan.... So yeah! I was making up for the run I missed yesterday. Inches are going away and I have 13lbs of baby weight to lose!!! Thank you ladies for motivating me everyday!!!! I will be posting random workouts that I enjoy on my lazy workout days soon.

Sunday Nov. 13 workout

Hello again ladies... Glad not to see your faces when three of six of my family is feeling sick. Actually it's all the boys.
I think it's the flu! Booo!
Anyways, I ended up doing a Lindsay Brin post natal boot camp workout due to the fam. being under the weather. This was thirty minutes of workout using weight and cardio! It's great even if you haven't just had a baby. I usually do the advance to reach max intensity of workout. If you are interested in her videos, she sells them at Target. I got a nice deal and bought a trio for $15

The beginning!!!

Hello Ladies!!! As promised, I will be posting my workouts on this blog so you are in the know and you can't make it to cross fit or running days. Today I did a 2 mi. workout moderate pace workout. This consisted of a 40 sec. warm up and a 3:30 cool down. I jogged for the warmup. Ran 1mi enough to feel warm and did it in 9:37pace. The 2nd mi. was more brisk due to me not liking how slow I ran and did a 9:07 pace and felt like I was going to vomit on the 2nd mi. Lastly, I cooled down with a jog for a little over 2 min. and then walked a 1:30 which had my heart rate slowly come down. Please do a cardio workout of your choice for at least 20min. today and some type of core workout. Remember to warm up and cool down! Oh, and I also stretched my left hamstring. It was making my knee hurt. For myself, I will do 3 sets of planks lasting four min. a piece and rotating  from middle to side to other side. If you have any questions on this workout please email me. One more thing, which will help with weightloss and motivation... I am keeping a journal of what I am eating  and if you want best results do this daily. Also, I measure myself weekly and weigh in to see results. It's important to do this so you don't get discouraged. Ultimately, you want to know your inches and not so much your weight.

There are REASONS for men and women to have different roles!!

On Sat. morning Tarzan had a track meet and he thought it would be a nice treat for the runners to load up on some deliciouls carbs...(cinnamon rolls). When he thought this process through, it seemed great. He was up and at it around 530am baking in the kitchen and the aromas of cinnamon, sugar, and butter filled the air. When the peircing sound of our smoke detector went off, I no longer smelled that night smell but burned sugar. I continued to lay lazily in bed b/c there was no smoke in the bedroom and within 30 sec. he turned off the alarm... He kissed me goodbye and was out the door. When Taz woke up that moring around 730am, we walked in the kitchen for our daily breakfast...

What we saw was a woman's worst nightmare!!!

There was cinnamon sugar all over the counter, dripping on the floor, on top of the stove,  along with two pans full of the same stuff with 6 burned rolls. It looked as if it was cupcake war which had gone wrong!  Bless his heart, he was really trying. I was sick with the stomach bug, the children were, and I had no energy. I cleaned the mess up and three days later I went to bake some bread in the oven and the house began to be filled with smoke... I hadn't put anything into the oven yet! It was the cinnamon sugar at the bottom of the oven. GRRR.... I cleaned it out and tried again the next day to find it was still smokey, it had dripped below the pan of the oven where it lights (GAS stove).

I wish I had pictures of before and after. This is why it is better for a woman to cook indoors and a man to cook outdoors. I think in one moment of the mess I wanted to strangle the man which flies from tree to tree but on the other hand he was trying to be helpful with the youth's track meet. That's the part that makes my heart smile. His willingness to serve others and be a witness! Love my Tarzan!

"oh what a night"

The piercing scream awoke me from my sleep. As I laid there to figure what was going on with Giraffe, Tarzan was up and to the rescue. Not to mention, we had only been asleep for maybe 2 1/2 hours before the scream and sleep seemed to be so nice... Wednesdays are always crazy for us due to church and the late Awana nights so each minute of sleep seemed to needed for our thurs. adventures. Her scream would make you think someone had someone had broke in to the house and attacked her but instead of an outside attacker, she had a bug inside of her which was trying to come out. She changed our carpet colors, smelled up the house, and took 2 baths in four hours of what seemed to be her endless vomiting. When 530 am struck, the bug was out of her system leaving her and Tarzan exhausted on the couch.

When morning hit, it was like any other day except while Taz was sitting at the breakfast table after a hug blowout from the bottom which ended in the bathtub, and the bug had entered into him. He didn't cry but was more annoyed because he was still hungry so he screamed for "more" food. After I tackled the local grocery store for all the Gatorade they had in stock, I came home in time for Taz to puke like a professional with all his hard work to have food stay down. He was mad because he once again wanted to replace food. Tarzan cleaned up his mess and stuck him in the bath only for me to do the steam of the entire downstairs. Two hours later, house was cleaned, aired, ready for yet whatever comes. In the moment of all this, I thank God for my children and my husband to get us through a crazy day.
